Taverna Castello

Everything that we ordered was truly exceptional, very tasteful. I strongly suggest the burger filled with Greek feta (traditional white cheese) as well as pizza with thin crust. Everything seemed to be from high quality ingredients and proper preparation, more than suitable for my kids. The owners are some of the most warm and gracious people that I have met. They have given special attention to the very aesthetic decoration with many well preserved antiques. The place is more quiet than other establishements in the area, which finds me very aggreable. Parking was no problem at all, with both of my visits having parked near the entrance. It does not have a privately owned parking but it is not needed. I did not notice a disabled toilet but there was one suitable for young kids and accesories to assist for babies.

Iorgos & Alexandra let us feel at home, the same sensation we had just into the front garden. Many unique and vintage furnitures, particular objects, vases of herbs and spices everywhere, made the dinner a journey of flavors and tastes. Iorgo don't trip that far in the kitchen, keeping the standard of his dishes as closest as possible to classical recipes. The way he offers appetizers or fisrt plates, is just a preparation for the main host of the restaurant: the grill! Be flesh or fish, surrounded by true tasting vegetables, everything is exactly what you deserve as chosen on the menu. Listen to me folk, come back at least twice!

Castello is and will be my all time favorite place to dine in when in the area of Ilia. The owners love what they do and you can tell not only by the delicious food they serve, but by the amazing decoration they have in place, with vintage bikes and bicycles as well as a fountain and fresh materials hanging from a the olive tree which makes the place even more great for a couples, friends, family night out. Last, but not least, portions are generous and they take great pride in thinking of what the customer might enjoy trying.

I haven’t written anything in a while, but on this vacation in Greece we ate at a special restaurant with great food, so I just had to post this. It was like eating at your grandma’s house… if you happen to be lucky enough to have a Greek grandmother. She cooks different dishes everyday… there’s no menu, she shows you what she’s been cooking and you choose your dish right out of one of the cooking pots. Of course they have a Greek grill and will be more then happy to offer you different meats… port, lamb or chicken. If your on vacation close by and your hungry for a “home cooked” meal, you just have to try it. Kosta and Zoe are just the sweetest Greek grandparents every one wants to have!

the most traditional restaurant / tavern of the smiley. great food, dishes and fish. Mr. Christos is an amazing cook, polite and hospitable, always smiling. caricature collection from car to small objects.the prices for the quality it offers are good. the tourist season is on a daily basis.

What to eat and what not to eat in this restaurant.When you enter this restaurant, the smells from the different foods tickle your nose and pull you to try them. The seafood smells of the Greek sea, where with white wine and ouzo, it takes you to the Greek mythology of the 12 Gods of Olympus....The various meat dishes tickle the palate of your mouth where with a local red wine where the owner will recommend you, there is no doubt not to taste the wine of the Greek Gods... and take you to ancient Greece....

The best Greek restorant in the area! Every day at least 4-5 cooked dishesh. Home made and very tasty. Strongly recommend. The owners are very very nice :)

Excellent food and ambitious chef and service. A place to come back (as we did). On Mondays greek live music.
